Balochistan case: SC hints at summoning chief minister

Quetta: Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has hinted that the court might summon Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani if police failed to take measure to recover missing people.

Deputy Attorney General assured the court that efforts would continue till the last missing persons is recovered.  

Earlier in the morning, the Supreme Court summoned IG Frontier Corps  and officers of secret agencies as a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry resumed hearing into Balochistan law and order case on Wednesday.

 The hearing was conducted in apex court’s Quetta registry. The bench annoyed over government’s failure in presenting missing persons in the court and ordered the Deputy Attorney General that the IG FC and provincial officers of secret agencies be summoned in the court till 11:30 a.m today (Wednesday).However, the attorney DAG told the court in the afternoon that the IG FC and representatives of the ISI were not present in the city.

Justice Khildi Arif Hussain remarked that people’s houses had been burning while authorities were busy in holding meetings.

He said that every Pakistan should put up his efforts to put out the “fire” in Balochistan.
