Islamabad: Family of former ISI officer Khalid Khuwaja who had been killed by militants in North Waziristan two years ago, has demanded of the authorities to register a case against Hamid Mir, a renowned Pakistani journalist, who is associated with country’s leading TV network, Geo News.
Speaking at a ceremony held at National Press Club Islamabad on Monday, Osama Khalid, a son of Khalid Khuwaja blamed Mr Mir for the killing of his father and said that no FIR had been registered against Hamid Mir apparently due to his influence despite the lapse of two years.
He said that his father was a patriot and formed Defence for Human Rights. Osama Khalid said that he contacted ISI chief, Supreme Court chief justice and others but to no avail.
It is to mention here that a tape was revealed by Daily Times carrying conversation allegedly between Hamid Mir and militant commander, in which Mr Mir termed Khalid Khuwaja a CIA agent.
Later on, Mr Mir denied the charges, saying he respected Khalid Khuwaja and never talked to any militant commander. He said a man was impersonating him in the tape.
Hamid Mir had also alleged that then Punjab governor Salman Tasir hatched conspiracy against him and he would sue him.
Daily Times, the English Language newspapers, was owned by Mir Tasir, who had been killed by his own guard in January last year
