Karachi: Head of the Anti Extremism Cell of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) SP Chaudhry Aslam has claimed that almost 70 per cent area of the violence-stricken Lyari neighbourhood has been cleared.
He told media on Tuesday that several members of the Lyari gang war have been killed. To a question regarding the bodies of the deceased, Aslam said the bodies were taken away by the gangsters.
Meanwhile, TV channels reported huge blast followed by intensive firing was heard as law enforcers attempted to make their way into Afshani Galli, where “gangsters” are said to have been holed up.
According to reports, police could not get major achievements as the operation entered sixth day.
