Wheat procurement in Gujranwala Division from tomorrow

Sialkot: Wheat procurement drive would begin in Gujranwala Division from tomorrow (Tuesday), Deputy Director Food Gujranwala Division Ch. Naveed Ashraf said while talking to media persons after visiting official wheat procurement centres.

The drive was to be started from April 20, but had been delayed due to bad weather in the region.

The provincial government had provided as many as 9.5 million gunny bags in order to enable wheat growers to bring their wheat yield to the respective centres, he informed.

He said a total of 44 wheat procurement centres had been set up in all the six districts of Gujranwala Division viz. Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala.

The provincial government would purchase as many as 379,000 metric tons of wheat directly from the wheat growers through the centres, he added.
