Lyari operation: Police to be equipped with modern weaponry

Karachi: Sindh Police has approved a request of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to provide them latest weaponry in order to fight efficiently with miscreants in Lyari, an old society of Karachi, sources said on Sunday.

The sources said that the CID requested Akhter Gorchani, Addition Inspector General (IG) of Police in Sindh, to provide modern weaponry in order to fight miscreants in Lyari who were firing rockets and hand grenades on Police.

The East and west zones of Police in Karachi would be equipped with 25 Light Machine guns (LMG) and 73 G-3s adding that 100 gas shells would also be given to the police.

It is to be mentioned here that police due to their ordinary weaponry was not able to cope up with the miscreants who were using rockets and grenades against the law enforcement agencies.
