Islamabad: A large number of teenage girls from former soviet states such as Uzbekistan Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are being smuggled in Pakistan for prostitution, The News Tribe has learnt.

Sources said that teenage girls are sent to Pakistan through legal process on the promise of providing jobs in health sector in Pakistan and later sold for prostitution purposes.

The sources said that after depriving the girls of their immigration documents they are sold in parts of Pakistan, especially in major cities like Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore for prostitution.

A source talking to The News Tribe in condition of anonymity, said that a considerable number of the girls are sexually abused in posh areas of  Islamabad, including Margalla.

 According to information available with the largest independent and bilingual news website in Pakistan, the embassies of the relevant countries remain reluctant to help out the girls because absence of legal documents.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seems to be completely failed in bringing the elements involved in   the heinous crime against the humanity behind the bars.
