Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naik has said that appeal against the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgement in contempt case could not be filed until a detailed judgement is issued.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday at the Press Information Department (PID) flanked by Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, the law minister said that the apex court had not handed a copy of its ruling to the prime minister on Thursday.
He said that Mr Yousuf Raza Gilani was still the prime minister and member of the National Assembly while the cabinet was also functional.
Naik cristicised the apex court for its judgement and raised various technical objections over the SC orders.
The law minister also criticised the Supreme Court Registrar Nasir Iqbal for writing letter to National Assembly Speaker asking for compliance of court orders.
Naik said that the registrar had no right to dictate any parliamentarian as he did not ejnoy such powers.
