Islamabad: A high level meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party leadership was held at the President House to review the situation emerging after the conviction of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
The meeting was jointly chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari.
According to a statement issued by the President House, the PPP leaders said that an elected Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was punished for his efforts for the supremacy of law and the Constitution.
It said that the participants of the meeting felicitated the prime minister for sticking with the Constitution with “courage and prestige” .
The statement said that the participants regretted the Supreme Court orders. They also applauded Senator Aitzaz Ahsan for his “services”.
The meeting decided to cope with the new challenges by Constitutional means.
