Washington: Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh claimed Pakistan would receive $13.5 billion in terms of foreign remittances which would be a record in this regard.

He said that was a clear sign that overseas Pakistanis had confidence in the government’s economic policies. The government was working for the stability of economic growth in the country.

“Overseas Pakistanis posing confidence in Pakistan will send $ 13.5 billion this year, reflecting a 21 per cent increase from last year’s $ 11.2 billion,” the finance minister said at a Press conference.

The minister took part in various World Bank and IMO forums and met with finance ministers of other countries. The government’s policies were appreciated and he had got a positive feedback about them, he said.

Pakistan was fulfilling its debt repayment obligations and paying back an amount of $ 1.2 billion to IMF this year, Sheikh said.
