Facebook being used to blackmail Pakistan girls

Karachi: As Facebook and other social sites are growing day by day in Pakistan, an important Asian country, hundreds of girls are being blackmailed by the social networking sites forcing them to limit activities to their homes and even to commit suicides.

According to the reports of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) available to The News Tribe, Pakistan largest independent news website, cyber crimes are rampant across the country specially a number of educated, respectable and distinguished girls are being blackmailed.

“About 99 percent of complaints are being lodged by girls that their accounts are hacked and profile picture edited,” FIA sources revealed.

“After that indecent pictures are uploaded on Facebook and other social websites,” they added.

“Hackers also develop fake accounts in the name of these girls and after that use vulgar language while communicating with family members and friends of such girls.”

According to a survey report, there are more than 20 million Internet users in Pakistan and 5 million people use Facebook and other websites.

“FIA’s cyber crime wing receives 70 percent of complaints regarding Facebook,” the sources said and added that hundreds of girls are compelled to leave their education and attracting job after being blackmailed through hacked Facebook accounts.

A popular daily reports that five hackers were arrested on charges of blackmailing of innocent and educated girls via Facebook.

Many edited indecent videos and pictures have been recovered from their possession.

Most of incidents of blackmail occurred after culprits failed to get engaged with any girl or breaking up engagement with that girl.

“As a revenge they hack the accounts to teach a lesson to that girl and her family,” the FIA officials noted.

Many girls have been rusticated from their educational institutes and colleges after their fake porn movies and pictures were developed and uploaded on internet.

According to FIA Cyber Wing Sindh, efforts are being put up to arrest culprits involved in blackmailing of relatives of government officers; so far only a couple of culprits have been apprehended.

In a scenario where the social networking sites have changed lives of people of Pakistani and other countries, it has also affected lives of millions.

In countries like United States, United Kingdom, India, European states and last but not least Pakistan, Facebook has been termed as a security threat emerging as a tool to blackmail people and even risking their lives.

“The major reason behind this growing trend is unavailability of effective laws of Cyber Crime in Pakistan leaving common people at the helm of criminals,” they said.

“Personal data like details, pictures and videos which are uploaded on different social media sites including Facebook is being used wrongly and everyone should be cautious while uploading his or her personal bio data.”

  1.  I have been the victim of such crime, my gmails ids were hacked all the relevant data was collected from the emails ids, then the hacker tried to communicate with me being a female foot reader. Since lot of information has already been passed out; this further facilitated the process of being blackmailed. Most annoyingly the person pretended to be some religious Mentor, and used lot of versus from Quran to support her argument,as result I trusted more  fake female more. By the time I realized that the person i was talking to was a fake person, i restricted my communication, deleted all my accounts, including facebook, but i guess i was little late and the person started blackmailing me. This whole thing has put me under of depression and leading to isolation. However the best i could do was inform my family, friends and people on my mailing list.

Eventually this has helped me out a lot, as that person couldnt blackmail me any longer, still i get calls and email from that person but I am well prepared to deal with it.

Suggestion: Please you all be very very carefull, and stay save !

    • I see what most pakistani girls and arabs have on their profiles.  Showing themselves and getting up to stupid things, then what do you expect would happen.

      •  Agreed with Hassan. Mtariq after reading your comments, it seems 75% is your fault, how could you be so innocent? Why you allowed such a situation to arise? It is never one sided. But, its really unfortunate and unethical.
We must all first put our own home in order before putting blame on
others. If you are willing to expose yourself so openly, such things
will happen. It also seems you interacted with “him” for quiet long, why
so? Put your own home in order first.

    •  Pakistani girls cannot be that fool dude…..you have firstly created a situation then you tried to cover up. Bravo Muslim Girls…….!!
