Karachi: Ufone earning witnessed record growth with modest increase of 6 percent recorded in first half of current fiscal year 2010-11, a report said, showing a constant surge in utility of multiple services by its subscribers.
Ufone revenue reached at Rs 25 billion and its profit was estimated to touch Rs 2.5 billion compared with earnings and profitability of corresponding period of previous fiscal year.
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) financial report said that it wholly-subsidiary consolidated its quite strengthening position in terms of its financial stability.
Analysts in telecom sector said the PTCL had received Rs3.1 billion last year from Ufone but it may not earn more than Rs 1 billion from its subsidiary on the account of upcoming 3G auction and required licensing fees.
Ufone number of new voice and data packages coupled with value-added services witnessed handsome growth in usage, which has pushed its overall revenues and profit towards new height, telecom analysts said.
Different offers such as 100 per 100 and 100 per 200 have attracted new customers and coerced the existing customers to avail cheap talk time packages. Besides, Ufone Karachi Offer, Rs 0.49 per 90 sec call have competed well with other players of the cellular sector.
According to the officials, Ufone has recorded profit successfully from its attractive calls, SMS and internet packages despite of the fact its number of users was not increased in the past six months as compared with different operators claimed to have acquired new subscribers.
They said that the strategy of Ufone management is remarkable towards growth in earnings and subscribers’ service usage therefore the company retained its profitability nonetheless cost of operations has become relatively high in the country.
