KARACHI: Pakistan Software House Association (P@SHA) in collaboration with the Google has launched a social innovation fund with Rs 20mn.
This was announced by P@SHA President Jehan Ara on Thursday amid a pres conference at a local hotel.
The program was launched to provide Pakistani people particularly youth, which is about 60 percent of population, with financial support and guidance and encouragement to initiate their innovative projects.
Speaking on the occasion Ara said that invites would be received through out the month of June. In next month a panel of judges would decide the appropriate proposed projects. Maximum Rs 1mn would be provided for a project.
She said there are no limitations of age, gender, education, cast and creed for the participants. The only condition is that the participants should be Pakistanis and based in Pakistan.
Google country consultant Badar Khushnood said that the project would support those youngsters who have some innovative ideas. Under the project Information and Communication technology related projects would be supported. He further said that Google had already been supporting the projects of creativity and social investment.
