Islamabad: The yesterday’s bitter foes, PPP and PML-Q, are all set to join hands, as almost all the hitches in the alliance between the two parties were removed on Friday with the meeting of Syed Faisal Saleh Hayyat with President Asif Ali Zardai here on Friday.
On Friday, PML-Q Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly, Faisal Saleh Hayyat, who was until now against the alliance, called on President Asif Zardari accompanied by his party chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Sources told The News Tribe that President Zardari invited Faisal to join the PPP-led government and offered him a lucrative position in the government.
It is to be mentioned here that Faisal Saleh Hayyat, a former stalwart of PPP, who switched loyalty in 2002 after the general elections and jumped on the bandwagon of Musharraf-led government by creating a splinter faction in PPP, PPP-Patriot, has been bitter opponent of the incumbent government and was until now against any kind of alliance or cooperation with the PPP. He had filed the petition against corruption and irregularities in Rental Power Plants deal, which led to blush the faces of rulers as corruption of billion of rupees proved in the deal and most of the contract had to scrap.
After the meeting with President Zardari, Faisal Saleh Hayyat told a news channel that he was offered the slot of deputy premiership. He said that the government had offered a complete “Package Deal” a month ago to PML-Q for joining the government. He said the PML-Q had been offered five ministries, governorship and eight ministers of state.
He said that following the power-sharing, the two parties would also collaborate and cooperate with each other in future elections especially in next general elections. He said PML-Q had completed deliberations over the offer and an agreement would be signed within next few days.
